Technology is getting smarter
– and smart systems are increasingly seen as the
technological future. Smart Technology displays a level of in-built
intelligence; technology that can analyse itself and provide
important information back to the user.
The applications are limitless as these two extremely diverse
examples show. From the University of Plymouth comes a building
that manages itself and encourages active interaction from its
occupants, a building that's not just about throwing in
technological solutions, but about getting people to think about
how they use the space they work in.
And from Bournemouth University, also in the South West of
England, there is a military training simulator that can accurately
re-create the conditions of a real military offensive, providing
the trainee with real expertise and skills from his training.
