While the IOC decides on the venue for
the 2012 Olympics, another major sporting event is about to get
underway in Coventry, England. The International Children's Games, much of which is this year being hosted at the University of Warwick,
is affiliated to the Olympic movement and for aspiring young
athletes, the event has become one of the highlights of the global
sporting calendar. The 39th games will open on Thursday, 7th
July.
One of the teams competing is from Singapore, where of course
the 2012 vote is about to take place. The Singapore government is
determined to give this tiny country the sporting profile to match
its economic status, and the training facilities it is
investing in are among the best in the world.
